Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be used. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. The upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens to do this. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item upgrade that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful but it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their equipment. If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained, such as the chance to crit attack damage, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or reloading speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any attack damage increases. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade.
